Today’s Promise
When You Feel Overwhelmed, God Will Not Let You Drown
Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.
God Will Lift You Up
When you feel like you’re drowning in uncertainty and worry, God is right there with you, lifting you to keep you from going under.
We looked at this promise back on April 14th last year. As I was thinking about where we are today, with all the worries and uncertainties we are facing, the Lord brought this verse to mind.
You may be dealing with some of the most significant problems and challenges you have ever faced. You may have lost your job or had to close your business. You may be worried about what happens next. Maybe you are struggling with the new norm of working at home while trying to homeschool the kids, or you are simply tired of being alone and are struggling with loneliness like never before.
God is With You
When you feel like you are drowning in uncertainty and fear, remember God is with you. He never promised that you wouldn’t face difficult times. What He did promise is that He will be right there in the middle of the problem with you.
You may feel like the floodgates have opened, and you have been swept you off your feet. It may seem like you are going down for the last time.
When Peter stepped out in faith to walk on water, it wasn’t long before He took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink. I’m sure he felt like he would surely drown. Instead of scolding him, Jesus simply reached down and lifted him up.
Jesus is Reaching Out to You
In the same way, right now, Jesus is reaching out to you to lift you, strengthen, and encourage you. He is with you and will never let drown.
God is not surprised by the floods that come into your life. The COVID-19 pandemic is no surprise to Him. He knows what you are going through and is right there with you. He is ready to give you peace, faith, and joy amid the problems you are facing.
Look at that promise again.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. – Isaiah 43:2
Make these confessions.
- God is with me when the waters of fear and uncertainty come.
- He will protect me and rescue me from the flood.
- When I suffer loss or feel overwhelmed, I know that my God is with me.
- God will lift me from the raging waters and give me peace.
In Jesus name
Amen
