Blessings Come to Those Who Bless Others

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38

When You Bless Others

Contrary to our thinking, God promises to bless us when we give to others. The Kingdom of God operates differently from the world and our natural inclinations.

Jesus had just finished giving a list of instructions to His followers, all of which are contrary to our usual behavior. He instructed them to love their enemies, do good to those who hate them, bless those who curse them, pray for those who mistreat them, and never retaliate. He ended the list with a promise that if they give, it will be given back to them.

A Generous Giver

Jesus taught His followers to be generous givers and conduits of God’s love and blessings. When God blesses us, we ought to pass on those blessings to others.

When we give of our time, kindness, skills, and money, we activate the promise of reciprocity: what we give, God gives back to us. While the goal is never to give just so we can receive, we know that we cannot out-give God.

A Greater Blessing

When God gives back to us, it is in abundance. Jesus said that our giving comes back to us pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Imagine a container of flour that is not only full but has been packed down, shaken to make sure every square inch is full, and then piled up until it overflows the sides.

When you give, God blesses you. This applies when you give to your church, support ministries, or help a friend in need. Jesus taught that even a small gesture, like offering a cup of water in His name, would not go unnoticed. Therefore, God blesses those who bless others.

Following Jesus requires a life of generosity where the blessings you receive are shared with others. In this process, blessings come back to you in abundance.

Look at that promise again.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38

Make these confessions.

  • As a Christ-follower, God calls me to be generous.
  • God calls me to be a conduit of His blessings.
  • When I give, blessings come back to me.
  • As God blesses me, I will bless others.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

As a follower of Christ, I believe that God calls me to be generous and live as a conduit for His blessings. When I give, I believe that it comes back to me, and as God blesses me, I will bless others in Jesus’ name.

Refusing to be generous means that we miss out on the wonderful blessings that God has in store for us. It is my belief that thriving Christians are generous Christians.

As we approach the end of the year, I hope that you will consider supporting The Daily Promise. Your support will help encourage Christians around the world with the promises of God. Absolutely. When help others and give from your heart there is a feeling that overcomes you of joy because it’s from God. We always have something to give. Time, Prayer and money. He will always supply all of our need. He works in mysterious ways. 🙏
