Today’s Promise

By His Stripes I Am Healed

1 Peter 2:24

And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

Jesus’ Suffering Brings Healing

Jesus’ body was beaten, wounded, and broken on the cross. We are healed today because of the suffering He willing experienced for you and me.

The wonder of Easter begins at the cross. Without the cross, there is no Easter. As Jesus hung on the cross, the promise of forgiveness, cleansing, and healing was fulfilled.

Jesus was not a martyr, but a Lamb who laid down His life for you and me.

As He hung on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sin. The payment for sin was always death. (Romans 6:23) Jesus’ death on the cross paid for our sin.

A Prophecy and a Promise

His body was broken for you and me. This promise is a New Testament version of the Old Testament prophecy of Isaiah. Here is what the prophet said in Isaiah 53:5

But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging, we are healed.

Isaiah looked forward to the cross; Peter looked back at the cross. Isaiah said, “we are healed,” Peter declares, “you were healed.”

Jesus’ broken body brought about healing for you and me. It’s hard for us to understand, but as Jesus was beaten, scourged, and crucified, His suffering provided healing for those who would come to Him in faith.

Your Healing

Because of Jesus’ suffering, you have been healed of your suffering. Every painful experience, every rejection, and every hurtful moment from your past has been healed by the broken body of Christ.

Have you allowed Jesus to heal the broken areas of your heart?

Have you allowed Jesus to restore and heal the wounds in your life?

Are you claiming healing for your physical body today?

Because of Jesus suffering on the cross, you can live rightly before God. You can walk clean and pure before Him, and your every hurt, wound, and weakness of your past has been healed.

Look at that promise again.

And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. – 1 Peter 2:24

Make these confessions after me.

  • Jesus took on my sin as He hung on the cross.
  • Because of Jesus’ suffering, I am healed.
  • I am healed of my past pain, sin, and hurt.
  • I can walk in fellowship with God because of the cross.

In Jesus name,
Amen
