You Are New in Christ

Scripture Promise: 1 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Amazing things happened when you came to Christ. Your sins were forgiven, and yes your place in Heaven was secured, but that is just the beginning. Paul says that those who are “in Christ” (one of his favorite ways of describing the Christian) are new creatures.

You are not the same person you were before you came to Christ. It doesn’t matter what your past was like, what you did, thought or how you acted. That person is no longer alive. That person is dead and gone.

God has made you a new. When you became a Christian, the power of your old life with its desire to please itself and rebel against God was replaced by the Spirit of Christ. Since Christ dwells within you, you now live the resurrected life.

So many Christians live with baggage from their past. They carry around their failures, and regrets from the past. However, as new creatures in Christ, all that is gone and the weight of past sin no longer has influence over you. You are no longer bound to your past life.

The word “new” here means something entirely different and significantly better than what existed before. In Christ, you are new and significantly better than you were before you came to Christ. You are a new creature.

Today let’s celebrate that new life we have in Christ.

Read that promise again.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 1 Corinthians 5:17

Confess this with me,

In Jesus Christ, I am a new person.

My past doesn’t matter, my sin is forgiven, and Jesus dwells within me.

My old life died when I gave my life to Jesus, and now I live as a new person free from my past.

My failure and my shame.

In Jesus Christ I am a new creature, empowered to the new life He has for me.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

it is a struggle to see yourself as a new creation in Christ when the world constantly reminds of your regrets. Thank God for His Word that reminds me of the truth.

This is very encouraging. If God doesn’t remember my sinful past, why do I?

Praise be to God that I am new.

The Daily Promise reminds me indeed that I am blessed as a new person since beginning to study the Bible 8 years ago. In Christ, I have a new life. I’m so grateful for a loving, merciful God, who sent His Son , our Savior.
