Today’s Promise

1 Peter 5:10

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

No one wants to suffer, but suffering is often part of life. We live in a fallen world, and sometimes pain comes along. God doesn’t promise we will never suffer, but He does promise that He will use our suffering for a purpose.

When you suffer and lose, that does not mean you are being disobedient to God. In fact, it might mean you’re right in the center of His will. The path of obedience is often marked by times of suffering and loss.” – Chuck Swindoll

When an unbeliever goes through suffering, it is without hope. For the Christian, we know our suffering is perfecting us. We can rejoice in our suffering because we know God is using it for good in our life.

God doesn’t bring you suffering, but He does allow you to suffer.

God uses suffering to do four things in your life.

To Perfect You – God wants to restore what sin has taken away. He uses suffering to complete you so you can be more like Christ.

To Confirm You – This word means to “set in place or fix firmly.” Suffering confirms our faith in Christ. Suffering builds your confidence in God and His care for you.

To Strengthen You – You never know God is your strength until you have to call on Him. God strengthens you through your suffering to meet the demands of the day.

To Establish You – God sets the foundation in your life. Before a builder begins construction, he lay a foundation. The strength of the building lies in the foundation. Once tested through suffering, you will not be tossed about by everything that comes along. You are grounded in your faith in Christ.

Finally, we have the promise that suffering won’t last forever. The pain of childbirth is forgotten when a mother sees her newborn baby. We know the road may be difficult at times, but it leads to glory. Our suffering is nothing compared to the incredible glory found in Christ.

Let’s look at that promise one more time.

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. – 1 Peter 5:10

Confess this with me.

When I suffer, it won’t last forever.
It will just be for a little while
I can rejoice in my suffering because God will use it.
To perfect me, to confirm me, to strengthen me and to establish me.
My suffering is minimal compared to the glory of knowing Christ.
I may suffer a while,
But God’s glory in me will last forever.

In Jesus Name, Amen

My business is suffering not from what we do it’s dependent on getting paid by insurance companies. They deny treatment for the care we have given patients. If things don’t change within a week we will have to close and with that be in debt for lease and other bills. I know God will fix this. ?

I frequently go through degenerative joint pain and God always keep me through it all and my joints get strong again and all inflammation goes away. Today as I read this passage I am encouraged that all is working for my good and one day I will be free from all of this pain and completely whole this side of Heaven.
My prayer request is that I eat only the things that are wholesome for me and that God give me an obedient spirit to do and maintain the consistency of keeping the inflammation out of my body. Certain foods bring the inflammation and i haven’t verified which ones and to have the strength to stop eating them.
Thank you for reminding me of the promises suffering has a purpose but it won’t last forever.
May God continue to bless You all.
