Today’s Promise

Matthew 5:14

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Jesus came as the light to a world filled with darkness. In John 8:12 He promised that those who followed Him would not walk in darkness, but in the light.

Those who walk in the light experience clarity. When you turn on a light, you can see the dangers before you. When you can’t read the small print, you turn on the light.

Those who walk in the light experience security. The shadows of fear disappear when you turn on the light. A bright light chases away predators and dangers.

Those who walk in the light experience guidance. They put lights on highway signs so you can see which way to turn. When you walk in the light, God shows you which way to go.

Jesus took things to the next level when He declared that you are now the light. He was the light of the world, we are the light of the world. We are to bring clarity, security, and guidance into the world we live in.

Jesus didn’t say, “Try really hard to be the light.” He declared, “You are the light!” Strike a match and it doesn’t try and be the light. By its nature, it shines brightly. No amount of darkness can overpower the smallest of lights. The darker the setting, the brighter the light.

As the light of the world, you bring the light of the kingdom of God into every situation.

Let’s review that promise one more time.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. – Matthew 5:14

Confess this with me,

In Jesus Christ, I am the light of the world.
I am a city set on a hill
I bring the kingdom of God into every situation of life.
I walk in clarity, security, and guidance.
My life is am a shining example of the love of God
God’s light shines in and through me
As Jesus was a light to the world
I am a light to the world.
I bring the Father’s light to a world of darkness.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Remember, you are the light of the world. Today, let it shine!

Jesus said love your enemies. Can we love our enemies if we go to war with them? Can we be lights if we hate our Republican or Democrat people because of their political belief? The answer is no. So let us love as Jesus did and only then will we be lights.
