Today’s Promise

No Fear

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Fear can easily control us, but God has given us his power to live above our fear.

We all have fears; they are a natural part of life. However, if you are not careful, fear can keep you from fulfilling your destiny in Christ.

How many ministry opportunities are missed because of fear? How many times have you know God was leading, but been afraid to share your faith? How many doors were left unopened because you were afraid to step out in faith?

Fear is the opposite of faith, and God has called us to never allow fear to control us. Paul wrote to his son in the faith Timothy to remind him that God did not give him a spirit of fear.

Satan uses a spirit of fear to turn your heart away from God. Fear is released when you focus on your inadequacies. The basis of fear is selfishness. Fear grows when you allow it free reign in your heart and mind.

Everyone has fears, but you don’t have to be ruled by them. God gives you three things so you can live above your fear.

1. A Spirit of Power – The Holy Spirit dwells in you and gives you power over your fear. The very power of God dwells in you to overcome your fears and to move you in faith.

2. A Spirit of Love – You are deeply loved by God. The God who loves you so much will never lead you to a place where He will not be right there with you. When you know God is with you, can you live in fear? Because you are loved, you can deeply love others. When your motivation is love, fear of rejection is removed.

3. A Spirit of Self-Control – This is not just self-discipline. This the supernatural power of God in you to control our thoughts and attitudes. In 2 Corinthians 10:5 Paul encourages you to “take every thought captive” for God’s glory.

Review that promise again.

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7

Confess this with me.

Fear does not control me.
God has given me power, love, and self-control.
I am not afraid.
I will step out in faith and not cower in fear.
I will not miss an opportunity to minister because I am afraid.
I will follow God’s direction wherever He leads, in faith.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

God has not given you a spirit of fear, so go out and live in the power and confidence God has given you.

Good Morning, the fear I am overcoming today is the fear of standing up for what is right on my job and stop allowing others to dictate my day and decisions. I also need not to worry about not being able to function as as Assistant Principal.

Struggling with my job. Have spent many years fighting through fears yet have lost the battle at times. I have asked God many times for my own business, a restaurant really. Or a career playing music or as a singer. I have been blessed with the talent. Many say this however I can provide many to attest to this being true. Through this all I hear is the mistakes I have made. Past both distant and not so much so, verbal, in thought, actual and near misses from which I somehow found my way out. Those being few, sadly so. I am really hurting over this truth as I have hurt people. I learned early to apologize with as much sincerity as I could give. To make amends without expectation. Yet the memory is overwhelming sometimes.
I know I am loved but so very much want the courage and faith that Christ says is in me.
Please help me in my prayer to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to have mercy on my desire to change and find His direction and follow it willingly without fear.
I pray this will make sense.
