Today’s Promise

My Sin No Longer Condemns Me

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

This week we are looking at five promises found in one chapter of the Bible.

The book of Romans is one of the most powerful and richest books in the New Testament. We are focusing on the promises found in Romans chapter eight.

It seems that shame, guilt, and condemnation go hand in hand with religion. Religious people are often the most beaten down, and guilt-ridden people around. Religion loves to make you feel ashamed, guilty and worthless. So many Christians live with the guilt and shame of their past. They know they are saved but feel like second class citizens in the kingdom of God. It might seem strange, but God hates religion. Religion is all about being good enough for God. Religion is man’s attempt to reach God. A relationship with Jesus is completely different.

Have you ever struggled with shame or feeling unworthy?

When you come to God in prayer, do you feel guilty and sinful? Do you feel like God is disappointed with you because of the life you have lived or the struggles you have faced? I have great news.

There is no shame or condemnation for followers of Christ. All your shame, guilt and self-reproach disappeared when you made Jesus your Savior and Lord.

Condemnation is a legal term and means the penalty that comes after a verdict of guilty. As a Christian, the penalty for your sin has been paid by Jesus. You don’t have to pay the penalty for your sin. You don’t have to pay for the sins you committed in the past, the ones you commit today, or the ones you may commit in the future. You are no longer condemned before God. Your sin has been removed.

In Christ, you can stand before God clean and pure because of the payment Jesus made for your sin. There is no need to be ashamed because your sin has been erased. You are now free from any guilt, or shame. Any shame or guilt you experience now comes from the whispering lies of Satan in your ear. He loves to deceive Christians into believing they are unworthy and guilty before God.

Stand strong knowing that you are no longer under any condemnation.

Look at that promise once again.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. – Romans 8:1

Confess this with me.

In Jesus Christ, my sin has been paid.
There is no condemnation on me.
I am free from the shame and guilt of my past.
Praise God, Jesus has taken away all condemnation.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
