Today’s Promise
I Will Meet the Lord in the Air
1 Thessalonians 4:17
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
The great hope we have as Christians is the return of Christ.
Through the years, Christians have looked forward to His return. They have placed their confidence in the promises of the Bible that one day, Jesus will return and when He does, we will meet Him in the air.
When Jesus ascended into heaven, He told the disciples that He would one day come again. The Bible is filled with prophecies (promises) related to His return. As each prophecy is fulfilled, we draw closer and closer to the time of His return.
When He returns, you will meet Him in the air.
If you have died, you will be resurrected first to meet Him, and if you are alive at the time, you will be “caught up” to meet Him in the air.
The word “caught up” in this promise refers to someone rescued from danger or snatched away by surprise. When Jesus returns, it will happen suddenly and will be a surprise to everyone.
As a Christian, you look forward to the day when you see Jesus in the air, face to face. When He returns, He will set up His eternal kingdom, and you will live eternally in His presence. You will join all those who are in Christ to enjoy all God has prepared.
Understanding that He may return at any moment gives you hope to face the problems of today and live in victory over every trial you may encounter.
Look at the promise again.
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. – 1 Thessalonians 4:17
Confess this after me.
When Christ returns, I will meet Him in the air.
Jesus will set up His eternal kingdom here on earth.
I will spend all eternity with Him on a new earth.
I look forward to the day when He returns for me.
