Today’s Promise

God Sings Over Me

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Most of us very little time in the book of Zephaniah.

Even the most skilled Bible student may have a hard time finding this little book tucked in toward the end of the Old Testament. However, this little book backs a big promise.

I speak to so many Christians who feel God is mad or frustrated with them.

They think their Christian life is just one big disappointment to God. They come to God in prayer, filled with regret, shame, and embarrassment. No wonder they spend little time in prayer. Few Christians realize just how excited God is about them.

This promise pictures a mighty warrior holding his newborn son or daughter. His powerful arms are wrapped tenderly around the child. He draws the newborn close to his chest and begins singing over that little one. He rejoices in this child and the joy of being near its presence.

That little child rests quietly because of the father’s love.

Have you ever thought of God seeing you that way?

God holds you in his arms and sings over you. He looks down from heaven and declares, “That’s my boy! That’s my girl! I love them so much! I am so proud of them!”

Because of the blood of Jesus, He sees you pure, clean, and righteous before Him.

God says to you today, “You are my child! I love you so much! I am so proud of you!”

Let’s review that verse one more time.

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17

Confess this with me.

I am a child of God.
God loves me.
He holds me close and sings over me with joy.
Today, God is rejoicing over me with singing.
I can rest in Him because He loves me so much.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Today, God is singing over you the way a proud father sings over his newborn child.
