For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
If you looked in the mirror this morning, you probably noticed that you are getting older. You may not want to admit it, but your body is aging and will eventually fail you.
Try as you may, your body is doomed.
No matter many gym memberships you have, or how many supplements you take, the mortality rate for the human race is 100%. Unless Jesus comes before, you will face death.
That’s a great thought to begin the week, right.
The good news is that for the Christian, though this body will wear out and die, it will be replaced with one that will last for eternity. We don’t know all the detail, but we do know your new bodies will never experience pain, never experience hunger, loneliness, or tears. God has prepared an eternal body just for you.
You will no longer worry about being too tall or too short, too fat, too skinny or the thousand other things. Your new body will be a perfect fit for your spirit.
God has made an eternal body for you that will be a perfect fit; handcrafted by God Himself.
Your earthly body is just a temporal container for who you really are.
Your current body may last 60,70,80 or even 90 years. But your new body will never grow old, never decay, and will last for all eternity.
You can rejoice today because even though your earthly body is fading away, you have new and eternal body waiting for you in heaven.
Look at that promise once again.
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. – 2 Corinthians 5:1
Confess this with me.
My body is aging, and will one day fail me.
In Jesus Christ, I have a new, eternal body.
When I pass from this life into eternity,
I will receive a new and eternal body handmade by God.
