Today’s Promise

I Am Steadfast and Immovable

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

God calls you to be steadfast and immovable in your faith.

Every day your faith is tested by the world and the forces of darkness, but God promises to strengthen you.

Just like today, the New Testament church struggled with those who diluted or questioned parts of the Gospel. The Apostle Paul has just concluded a lengthy discussion on the reality of the resurrection of Jesus.

Paul ends this chapter by encouraging us to be steadfast and immovable.

To be steadfast is to be firm in your faith.

It means to hold onto or be completed convinced. It’s the picture of the tree described in Psalm 1 that had deep roots into the word of God. The more you know the Word of God, and the deeper your faith in Christ, the more stable and secure you will be. James says that your daily trials produce steadfastness in your life.

Immovable is a defensive term.

No matter what the enemy throws at you, you will not be moved from your faith in Christ. Again it’s the picture of that tree firmly rooted. No matter how hard the wind blows, it will not topple or move. Satan and the world around you will come against you again and again, but Christ in you makes you immovable in your conviction. Your steadfast faith produces immovable security.

Remember, God never calls you to do something that He hasn’t already empowered you to accomplish. Through the power of Christ in you, you can be steadfast and immovable in our faith and walk with Christ.

The result of you being steadfast and immovable is that you will abound in your work for the Lord.

Look at this promise again.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. – 1 Corinthians 15:58

Make this confession.

  • My faith is strengthened as I learn more of God’s word.
  • In Jesus’ name, no matter what comes against me, I will not be moved.
  • What God has commanded, He always empowers me to accomplish.
  • As I remain steadfast and immovable, my work for the Lord will abound.

In Jesus name,
Amen
