God Abounds in Lovingkindness

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
Psalm 103:8

God Abounds in Lovingkindness

Every day, God pours His lovingkindness on you. His commitment love is beyond your understanding.

What is your view of God? Do you see Him as an angry judge, an impersonal force, or a loving father? Your view of God affects your faith and how you live the Christian life. Often, your view of God has more to do with how you were raised than what the Bible says about God.

The only way to have an accurate view of God is to base it on what the Bible says about God and what He is like.

This promise gives us four character qualities of God. Today, we will focus on that last phrase: He abounds with lovingkindness.

What is Lovingkindness?

Lovingkindness is the picture of a grandfather who, upon seeing his grandchild, bends down to their level and turns His ear so He can hear every word his grandchild says.

Lovingkindness is a beautiful Old Testament word, and it shows up 26 times in the Bible. Lovingkindness is God’s commitment love to His people. God’s lovingkindness is His grace, mercy, and love, all mixed into one. It is God’s lovingkindness that continues to love you even when you are disobedient or in rebellion against Him. God abounds in lovingkindness toward you today.

Commitment Love

God loves you beyond your actions. He is faithful, even when you are not. It is God’s lovingkindness that works in your life to call you back to Himself. Romans 2:4 says that it is His kindness that brings us to repentance.

Sometimes we think God’s first response to our sin is judgment and discipline, but His first response is always love. God is committed to loving you so much that you can’t help but respond to Him. His lovingkindness is working in your life today, so you will grow into the person He has called you to be.

Lovingkindness is God’s willingness to forgive your sin over and over again. It is His commitment love to you that draws you back to Him.

Look at that promise again.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. – Psalm 103:8

Make these confessions.

  • God’s lovingkindness is pouring over me today.
  • I cannot go beyond his love and grace for me.
  • When I am disobedient, He calls me back to Himself.
  • He is ready with love, mercy, and grace to meet my every need.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

No matter where you are with the Lord today, His lovingkindness is pouring over you. You cannot fall far enough that His lovingkindness won’t reach down and pull you up.
