Today’s Promise

God Delights in My Prayers

Proverbs 15:8

The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

Worthy to Pray

So many Christians are reluctant to come to God in prayer. They feel unworthy to lift their voice, and they may think, “Surely God has more to do with His time than to listen to my prays.”

They don’t realize that God actually delights in their prayer. Did you know that God loves it when you spend time in prayer?

Two Types of People

This promise describes two types of people.

The first are those who practice religion, but their heart is not the Lord’s. They go through the motions of faith, but there is nothing behind it. They may even make a big deal of their faith and pray spiritual sounding prayers.

God finds their prayers disgusting. He knows it’s all just talk.

The second is the person who comes before God in prayer with an honest and humble heart that is right before Him. God listens and is delighted to hear their prayers.

You don’t have to be perfect or “arrive” at a certain spiritual level for God to delight in your prayer. The “upright” are those who are in a right relationship with God. Through Christ, you have been made “right” with God. Jesus’ sacrifice and your faith have opened the door to God’s presence.

God Listens

When you pray, God listens. He not only listens, but he is delighted to hear your prayers.

A grandfather takes great delight when his grandchild climbs up in his lap. He is ready to listen to anything his grandchild says. God is like that grandfather. He invites you to climb up in His lap and tell Him what is on your heart.

God delights in hearing you today. God wants you to come before Him and bring your needs, prayers, and concerns.

Look at that promise again.

The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. – Proverbs 15:8

Make this confession.

  • God is delighted when I pray.
  • He takes great joy in my prayer.
  • I will not come to Him in fear or shame.
  • He invites me to sit in His lap and share my heart.

In Jesus name,
Amen

The Lord always hears my prayers. How do I know this? I come to Him with confession of all my sins, known and unknown. Then He knows I have a clean heart. The Lord answers them in His way.
