Today’s Promise

God Has Helped You Before and Will Help You Again

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12

God has Helped You

When you take the time to review how God has helped you in the past, He gives you the strength to face today’s problems and worries.

This promise shows up in the middle of an interesting story in the life of the Children of God. The prophet Samuel had called the people together for a time of repentance, prayer, and worship. When the Philistines heard of their meeting, they attacked the people of God.

God brought giant claps of thunder that confused and terrified the Philistine army as the battle began. Because of God’s help, Israel won the victory. In response to God’s protection, Samuel built a monument to remind the people that God had helped them up to this point.

When your faith is weak, remember to review how God has helped you in the past. “Thus far, the Lord has helped you.” If God has helped you in the past, why would He not help you today?

A Simple Exercise

Here’s a simple exercise that will strengthen your faith. Take a moment and write down every time God has helped you in the past. Get very specific, when did He answer a prayer or bring about that special provision? When did you not know what to do, and God gave you direction? When did you feel hurt or worried, and God comforted you?

Now that you have completed your list read back through your list. Look at all the times God provided, directed, and helped you. Keep that list near you. Maybe put it in your Bible or journal. When your faith falters and your fear rises, take out that list and reread it. If God has provided for you “thus far,” why would He not continue to do so?

Look at that promise again.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” – 1 Samuel 7:12

Make these confessions.

  • God is my help and strength.
  • So far, the Lord has helped me.
  • God has helped me before and will do so again.
  • When I remember His provision, my faith is renewed.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

The God you serve is faithful. When you stop and remember his work in your life, it builds your faith and trust in Him. Up until now, you have seen His provision and help. Trust Him that He will continue to stand with you today and forever.

The Lord has always protected me and guided my path. Sometimes there has been a change in plans which was a protection and He has blessed and guided me home safely from trips and going out. When I return home I always say Thank you Lord for getting me home safely 🙏

God has always been merciful to me. He blessed me with a wonderful life partner and a roof over my head I could call my own. In the past, he saved me from the workplace harrassment I was subjected to without even me complaining about it. Prayers do work at His will if we have faith. I believe He will certainly help me again.. Glory be to my Almighty God🙏
