Today’s Promise

God is My Sun and Shield

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:114

Five Promises

As you walk with the Lord, He will be your guide and protector. You will experience His presence and the favor of His blessings.

There are five promises packed into this one simple little verse. Let’s jump right into them.

First, God is Your Sun.

Few things are more relaxing and peaceful than a warm, sunny day. Sitting in the sunlight seems to warm you all over. When God is your sun, you never walk in darkness. The scary shadows of the night disappear in the light of the morning sun. Things are always clearer in the sunlight. When God is your sun, you never walk in darkness, are warmed by his presence, and have clarity for the road before you.

Second, He is Your Shield.

I’m not sure how big God’s shield is, but I’m sure it must be enormous! What could possibly harm you when you have God’s shield surrounding you? Fear disappears when you know that God is shielding you on every side.

Third, He Gives Grace.

Grace is God’s unmerited favor. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve. God’s grace is His favor flowing over you. Because of Christ’s grace, you have forgiveness of sin and entrance into God’s presence without fear or shame.

Number four; God’s Shows His Glory and Presence.

Through faith in Christ, you can experience God’s glory and presence. God’s glory is the manifestation of his power and might. The glory of God is synonymous with the presence of God. You can experience his glorious presence now and for all eternity.

Finally, He brings good things into your life.

As you wall the grace and glory of God, He brings good things into your life. In fact, He won’t hold back one blessing as you walk in fellowship with Him.

There you have it, five promises packed into this one simple verse.

Since God is your sun and shield, you never have to walk in fear. If you are struggling with fear today, maybe this would be a great verse to memorize this promise. God is your sun and shield. He gives you grace and glory—all for your benefit.

Let’s review it one more time.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. – Psalm 84:11

Make these confessions.

  • Father, thank you for being my sun and shield.
  • Thank you for your warmth, light, and direction.
  • Thank you for your protection throughout the day.
  • Thank you for giving me your grace and showing me your glory.
  • Keep me close to you and every blessing you have for me.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

When God is your sun and shield, you walk in His presence, with clarity and protection. Right now, God is blessing you with His favor and blessings.

All of these promises are precious and meaningful to me. The two that stands out the most in my life, and I have seen evidence, are: 1) His warmth, light and direction. I feel His presence daily which warms my soul and spirit in a way that I cannot describe. daily. His light has shown me the way and he has directed my going and coming from one point to the next, from one transition in life to another. He has directed me in my personal and profession affairs. Praise God! Secondly, without any doubt he has protected not only me but my family, friends (even my enemies) from all hurt, harm and danger. Yes, indeed He has been my sun and shield. Glory to God!
