Today’s Promise

God is Patient Toward You

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9

God is Patient With You

With all the challenges and pressures you may be facing, May I remind you that God loves you and is patient with you.

Do you ever feel like a disappointment to God? Ever feel like you are the weakest and most undeserving of all His children? Do you wish your faith was stronger and you weren’t so easily discouraged? Ever feel like you will never reach the level of spiritual maturity you desire?

Good News

I have some good news and some really good news for you. First, we have all felt that way at one time or another. We all want our walk with God to move from one glorious moment to the next, but unfortunately, it’s often two steps forward and one step back.

However, we are in good company. Almost every spiritual giant in the Bible had a significant setback or failure. For example, the night Jesus was arrested, Peter had a chance to make a stand for Christ. Instead, he denied even knowing Him. Yet when God needed a keynote speaker at Pentecost, God used Peter to help bring 3,000 people to Christ.

Really Good News

The really good news is that God understands your weakness and frailty. Psalm 103:14 says that He knows we are made from nothing but dust.

Because He knows who you are and how you are made, He is patient with you. Even the great Apostle Paul struggled with his weakness. In Romans 7, he confessed that he often did what he did not want to do and didn’t do what he knew he should do.

God is patient and understands you are often weak and frail.

It took God 40 years in the backside of the desert to grow Moses into the man of faith God needed him to be. He is doing the same for you today.

Like a loving Father, God gently guides you in the way you should go. Though it’s rarely on your timetable, God always fulfills His promises. Right now, He is patiently working in your life. When you get off the path, He calls you back to Himself. He is training you to be the person of faith He needs you to be.

Look at that promise once again.

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9

Make these confessions.

  • God is never slow in fulfilling His promises.
  • God is patient with me and knows my frailty.
  • He is working to make me more like Jesus.
  • He patiently draws me back to Him when I stray.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

God is patiently working in your life. He knows your weaknesses and your failures but is committed to bringing you into a closer relationship with Him.
