Today’s Promise

God is Patiently Working in Me

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

With all the challenges, pressures, and stresses we are experiencing today, I want to remind you today that God is patient with you.

Ever Feel Like a Spiritual Loser?

Do you ever feel like a disappointment to God? Every feel like of all His children, you are the weakest and most undeserving? Do you wish your faith was stronger, and you weren’t so easily discouraged? Ever feel like you will never reach that level of maturity in the Lord you desire?

I have good news and really good news for you. First, at one time or another, we have all felt that way. We all want our walk with God to move from one glorious moment to the next, but unfortunately, it’s often two steps forward and one step back.

Good News

However, we are in good company. Almost every spiritual giant in the Bible had a major setback or failure. The night Jesus was arrested, Peter had a chance to make a stand for Christ. Instead, Peter denied he even knew Christ. Yet when God needed a keynote speaker at Pentecost, Peter stood up, and over 3,000 people came to Christ.

The really good news is that God understands your weakness. He knows your weakness and frailty. Psalm 103:14 says that He knows you and I are made from nothing but dust.

Because He knows who you are and how you are made, He is patient with you. Even the great Apostle Paul struggled with his own weakness. In Romans 7, he confesses that he often did what he did not want to do and didn’t do what he knew he should do.

God is Working in You

God is patient and understands you are often weak and frail. God worked for 40 years in the back side of the desert to bring Moses to the place of faith He wanted him to be. He is doing the same for you today.

Like a loving Father, God gently guides you in the way you should go. Though it’s rarely on your timetable, God always fulfills His promises. Right now, He is patiently working in your life. When you get off the path, He calls you back to Himself and trains you to walk in the way He has for you.

Look at that promise once again.

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9

Make this declaration with me.

  • God is never slow in fulfilling His promises.
  • God is patient with me and knows my frailty.
  • He is working to make me more like Jesus.
  • He patiently draws me back to Him when I stray.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
