Today’s Promise

God is the Great Creator

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

If you look at creation, it’s hard not to believe there is a God. The beauty of creation is the expression of the creator God.

The Creation Promise

The Bible begins with a promise. You may have never considered it before, but the first verse in the Bible says there is a God, and He is the creator. The world around you is the expression of the great creator God.

This world didn’t come together by itself, and it’s not a cosmic coincidence. There is evidence of intelligent design in every aspect of creation. The eternal God stepped into time and space and created the universe.

The hand of God can be seen throughout creation. If you have ever visited the Grand Canyon, gazed at a star-filled sky, or watched the sunset over the ocean, you have to admit; surely there is a creator.

The Creative God

Creation is the expression of a creative God. Ever wonder why there are so many varieties of plants? There are over 400,000 different types of flowers. God could have created a rose or marigold and called it done. Instead, He made carnations, periwinkles, petunias, and thousands of other flowers. He is the infinitely creative God.

God didn’t just set up the world and step back. He continues to create every day. Every sunset is different than before. Look at your hand. There are five unique fingerprints on each hand. With 8 billion people on the planet, there are over 80 billion fingerprints right now, and they are all different. How can there not be a creator?

The promise of a creator is the promise that someone is in charge. If there is no creator, then the world is randomly racing to its destruction. However, if there is a creator, then God has a plan for His creation. He is moving the world toward His ultimate conclusion.

The promise of a creator is also the promise that you were created. Contrary to popular culture, you are not a genetic accident. The living God created you. In Psalm 39, the Psalmist said that God knew and formed him before he was even born. God planned out how tall you would be, the color of your eyes, and even how long you will live. (Job 14) God created you for a purpose, and He has a good plan for your life.

Finally, if there is a creator, then as His creation, we are accountable to Him. Hebrews 9:27 says that a judgment day is going for all of us. For the Christian, there is no judgment. The blood of Christ has paid the penalty for our sin.

Look at that promise again.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. – Genesis 1:1

Make these confessions.

  • My Heavenly Father is the great creator God.
  • God’s handiwork can be seen in the world around me.
  • As the creator, God holds us accountable for our actions.
  • The blood of Jesus has cleansed me from all sin.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Your Heavenly Father is the great creator God. As the creator, He is actively involved in creation. You don’t have to worry about tomorrow, for your Heavenly Father has a plan for your life and all creation.
