Today’s Promise

January 30, 2023

God is With You in the Flood and Fire

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you.
Isaiah 43:2

God is With You

Do you ever feel like the problems of life are crashing over you like a giant wave? Have there been times when it seems a raging fire has consumed everything in your world? In those times, remember God is with you.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all your problems, fears, and worries disappeared when you became a Christian? Unfortunately, God never promised a problem-free Christian life. In fact, this promise assumes you will face times of deep water and fire. This promise says “when,” not “if” you pass through the waters. Your walk with Christ doesn’t isolate you from life’s problems; however, God does promise that amidst those problems, He will be with you.

When the Waters Overwhelm You

In this promise, water represents being overwhelmed. Sometimes the problems of life can come over you like a giant wave. All you see are problems, and you feel like you’re drowning. During those times, remember you are not alone. Just like God led the Children of Israel through the Jordan River at flood stage, He will guide you. He will keep your feet secure in the rushing waters of turmoil. He will lift you up just like He did Peter when He began to sink.

When the Fire Destroys

The fire represents destruction. There are times when you suffer loss. It may be in a relationship, it may be financial, or a thousand other ways, but what once was is no more.

Just like God was with those three young men in the fiery furnace, God will be with you in your fire. When you feel like you are drowning in uncertainty and fear, remember God is with you.

When the floodgates have opened, and you are about to be swept off your feet, God is with you.

When the fire comes, and everything is gone, God will still be with you.

God is Not Surprised

God is not surprised by the floods or fires that come into your life. You will pass through them because your God is with you.

He knows what you are going through and will lead you through the flood and the fire. He will give you peace, faith, and even joy amid the problems you face.

Look at that promise again.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. – Isaiah 43:2

Makes these confessions.

  • God is with me when I am overwhelmed, and things are falling apart.
  • He is with me in the waters of fear and uncertainty.
  • He is with me when my world is burning around me.
  • God will lift me above the raging waters and walk with me through the fire.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

When you face the flood and fire, God is with you. He knows what you are going through and will give you peace and even joy amid the problems you face.

We found out last June that my wife was going to have to undergo brain surgery. It was tough at first and felt like darkness was around us. But, through our faith and the support from thousands of fellow Christ followers around the United States, we were able to navigate the difficult waters. Today, my wife has had a “perfect” recovery, according to her doctors.

My husband was to have his aorta valve replaced on August 2nd, we were so excited that he was getting it done. we counted down the days. August 2nd at 3;30 am. he got up to take his shower so we could get to the hospital. He collapsed on the floor I called paramedics. They took him to the hospital where he was to have his procedure. He had covid pneumonia. He was in hospital 25 days came out was weak had aorta valve replaced within 10 days after that suffered what we believe was a minor stroke. Went thru intense rehab. He was to weak to come home he was placed in assisted living. 3 days there he fell and broke his hip. He now can no longer walk, is in a wheelchair, in a nursing home. I can promise during all of this our Lord and Savior never left our side. He was with us during this intense storm. We have now moved closer to our children. They are a blessing from Jesus. I am at peace knowing God is in control, while my heart is sad as we have been married for44 years. I know without a doubt Jesus is walking with me daily giving me the strength to get up everyday and face what obstacles are in our way. My faith and trust in our Lord and Savior will never waver. The blessing is all the angels here on earth he has brought to rally around us in this most difficult time. Never stop believing, I can promise he will never leave us where we are right now, but has it all ready mapped out where he wants to take us. Thank you Lord Jesus, God Almighty, Holy Spirit for what is impossible for us is a simple task for you to help us overcome.
