The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior.”
God Sees Who You Can Be
The Lord sees more in you than you see in yourself. You see yourself through your physical eyes. You see all the flaws and imperfections. You also see your history, failures, and what others have told you. God sees you for who you really are and who you can be through Christ in you. God sees you for who He wants you to be, not what you are today.
This promise comes from an interesting scene in the life of Gideon. An angel appeared to Gideon and called him a brave warrior.
At the time, Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress. You normally thresh wheat on the top of a hill or a raised area so the wind will blow the chaff away. A winepress is built low, sometimes sunk into the ground. There was no breeze and no wind to help him thresh the wheat.
Not a Place for a Warrior
Why was Gideon in the winepress instead of on a hill where he belonged? He was hiding from the enemy. He was down in a winepress hoping the enemy wouldn’t see him. The bottom of a winepress is not where you see a brave warrior working. You don’t usually find the next leader of the army of God hiding in a winepress.
However, God saw something in Gideon that he didn’t see in himself. God was about to move Gideon from the winepress to the war room. God would show His strength and power through Gideon. We won’t go into the details of the battle, but God used Gideon to bring victory and deliverance to His people.
God Sees More in You
God sees more in you than you see in yourself. He is calling you to a life of faith and victory. If you allow Him, God will use you as never before. You may be in winepress today, full of fear and frustration, but God sees in you a courageous warrior. He sees you as one who can bring help, healing, and deliverance to those around you.
The question is, will you believe what you say and think of yourself or what God says about you. God calls you to be the mighty spiritual warrior He sees in you.
Look at that promise again.

Make these confessions.
How I see myself is unimportant.
How God sees me is what matters.
Today, I will live the life God has for me.
I will be all He sees in me.
In Jesus’ Name,
When God looks at you, He sees more in you than you see in yourself. You may be full of fear and worry, but God sees you as a mighty valiant warrior.
