Today’s Promise

God Sings Over Me

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

God Sings

Did you know that God rejoices over you today?

Most of us haven’t spent much time in the book of Zephaniah. Even the most skilled Bible student may have difficulty finding this little book tucked away at the end of the Old Testament. However, this little book backs a big promise.

I hear from so many Christians who feel like God is mad or frustrated with them. They think their Christian life is just one big disappointment to God. They come to God in prayer filled with regret, shame, and embarrassment. No wonder they don’t spend much time praying. Few Christians realize just how excited God is about them.

This promise pictures a mighty warrior holding his new son or daughter in his powerful but tender arms. He draws the child close to his chest and begins singing over that little one. He rejoices in this child and the joy of holding it near.

That little child rests quietly because of the father’s love.

Do you realize that God sees you that way?

God holds you in his arms and sings over you. He looks down from heaven and declares, “That’s my boy! That’s my girl! I love them so much! I am so proud of them!”

Because of the blood of Jesus, He sees you pure, clean, and righteous before Him.

God says to you today, “You are my child! I love You so much! I am so proud of You!”

Let’s review that verse one more time.

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17

Make these confessions.

  • I am a child of God, and God loves me.
  • He holds me close and sings over me with joy.
  • God rejoices over me like a new father.
  • I can rest in Him because He loves me so much.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Today, God is singing over you the way a proud father sings over his newborn child.
