Today’s Promise

God Will Complete His Work in Me

Philippians 1:6

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

God Will Complete His Work

What God began in your life, He will complete. It’s easy to think the Christian life is all about what I need to do. I need to study the Bible more. I need to pray more. I need to share my faith, I need to be more sensitive, and the list goes on and on and on. However, the Christian life is really about God working in you.

If you looked back on your walk with God, I’m sure you would see how God has worked in your life, time, and time again. There were times when you drifted away from Him, and He used a situation or a person to bring you back to Himself. There was a financial need that God met at the very last minute. Even through the most challenging times, God was working in your life.

He Will Not Stop Now

If God has done all this for you, do you really think He will let you down now?

Some translations begin this verse with, “Since I am confident…” Paul was absolutely confident that God was going to complete His work in the lives of the Christians in Philippi.

I am absolutely confident that God is going to finish His work in you as well.

His Good Work

The work God is doing in you is good. You may not understand it or even believe it, but every day God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. Even when you are resisting His work, He is working behind the scenes to bring you back into full fellowship.

The word “perform” means to carry through. God is going to keep working until you are complete in Him. He is not going to give up on you until you are mature in Christ.

Let’s review this promise one more time.

Make these confessions:

  • Every day He is working to make me more like Jesus.
  • He has brought me this far and is not going to quit on me now.
  • I am confident that He will complete His work in me.
