God Will Finish What He Started in You

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6

God is Working

God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. He will continue His work in your life until you see Him face to face.

Even though you may not realize it, God is always working in your life. It’s easy to think the Christian life is all about what you need to do. You need to spend more time in Bible study. You need to pray more. You need to share your faith. You need to be more sensitive to the needs of others, and the list goes on and on and on. However, the Christian life is really about God working in you.

If you were to look back on your walk with God, I’m sure you would see God working in your life, time and time again. There were times when you drifted away from Him, and He used a situation or a person to bring you back to Himself. There was a financial need He met at the very last minute. Even during your most challenging times, God was working in your life.

Jesus Won’t Give up

If God has done all this for you, do you really think He will give up on you now?

Some translations begin this verse with, “Since I am confident….” Paul was absolutely confident that God would complete His work in the lives of the Christians in Philippi.

I am absolutely confident that God will finish His work in you as well.

Right now, God is doing a good work in your life. You may not understand it or see it, but every day God is working to make you more like Jesus. Even when you resist Him, He continues to work behind the scenes to bring you back into full fellowship with Him.

The word “perform” means to carry through. God will keep working until you are complete in Him. He is not about to give up on you. He will keep working in you until you are mature in Christ.

Look at that promise again.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6

Make these confessions:

  • What Jesus began in my life, He will complete.
  • Every day He is working to make me more like Himself.
  • He has brought me this far and is not going to quit on me now.
  • I am confident that He will complete His work in me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

God is working in you, day by day, to make you more like Jesus. He will not quit until you are mature in Christ and you see Him face to face.

He has been there for me through some very lonely hurtful times. Comfort me in many ways when I didn’t know which way to go. He has always seen me through.

Neil, I have many, many years of sobriety now. Without sobriety, I could not be with Jesus. Keep going, He truly loves us and has mercy and grace for us. God, bless you, brother!

Praise be to God for the fact that he continues to work in us even when we resist him. God is so good. I can’t believe how good God is. We don’t deserve his goodness at all. Please pray for me brothers and sisters in Christ. I am being tormented by thoughts of heaven and hell and me not making it into heaven. I am also having panic attacks. My name is Nicole Govindasamy and I am from South Africa.
