Today’s Promise

November 30, 2021

God’s Word is Living and Powerful

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

A Love Letter

The Bible is more than a religious book. It is the living Word of God. It is a powerful, spiritual weapon that pierces deep into your heart and life.

Though the Bible was written hundreds of years ago, it is still as relevant as the morning news. Some people think the Bible is a book of history or religious teaching, but for the Christian, the Bible is a love letter from their Heavenly Father.

As a follower of Christ, the Bible has the final say in every discussion or teaching. The Bible is the foundation for Christian living. The Holy Spirit will never lead you to do something contrary to what the Bible teaches.

A Living Book

The Bible is a living book. Like no other book, the Bible speaks to the heart of its reader. The Bible is literally the word of God in written form.

This promise says the Word of God is “active.” That word means “energizing.” As you read the Bible, God energizes your inner spirit and heart. You are encouraged and empowered as you read, study, and meditate on God’s word.

When you are going through a dry spell in your Christian life, get into the word, and allow it to refresh your spirit. You will find new life and encouragement as you dig into God’s word.

A Two-Edged Sword

This promise describes the Bible as a two-edged sword. A double-edged sword was short, sharp on both sides, and pointed. This sword was designed for hand-to-hand combat. Like the sword, the Word of God can penetrate our innermost parts and cut through the hardest of hearts. It exposes selfish attitudes and sinful habits.

If you are like me, many times while reading the Bible, a verse or a passage seemed to jump off the page. I could feel God’s word penetrate deep in my heart.

God’s word is so sharp that it separates all excuses and lays waste to every deception.

It Brings Healing and Comfort

The Bible also brings healing and comfort in the darkest of times. Often as I read the Psalms, I’ve sensed the Holy Spirit mending my hurt and healing my wounds.

Finally, the Word of God teaches you who you are in Christ, who your Father is, and how to walk in the Holy Spirit’s power.

Every time you read it, God speaks.

Look at that promise again.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

Make these confessions.

  • The Bible is a living love letter from God.
  • As I read the Bible, God speaks to my heart.
  • The Bible energizes my heart and heals my hurt.
  • The Bible teaches me who I am in Christ and how much God loves me.

In Jesus name,
Amen

God’s Word is a living and powerful book that can heal your heart, change your thinking, and empower your living.

Today is Giving Tuesday. It’s a day set in contrast to all the commercialism of the holidays. It’s a reminder to support the ministries and causes that are making a difference in the world.

When you support this ministry, you keep The Daily Promise sharing the promises of God to thousands of people around the world. By the end of the year, we will have had over a quarter of a million people listen to The Daily Promise.

But your support goes much further than just The Daily Promise. You also help us train and strengthen marriages through Praying for Him and Praying for Her.

Finally, your support helps me mobilize churches to pray for their pastors. I believe that when we cover our pastors in prayer, God will do amazing things in our churches.

Your support makes all this possible. On this Giving Tuesday, please support this ministry with your generous gift. CLICK HERE to make your donation today.
