Today’s Promise
October 1, 2024
His Stripes Bring Healing
And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
1 Peter 2:24
The Cross of Suffering
Jesus was beaten, wounded, and broken on the cross. His suffering brings your healing.
The cross is the focal point of Christianity. Without the cross, there is no Christianity. As Jesus hung on the cross, He fulfilled the promise of forgiveness, cleansing, and healing.
Jesus was not a martyr; He was a Lamb who laid down His life for you and me.
As Jesus hung on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sin. The Bible says that death has always been the penalty for sin. (Romans 6:23)
Forgiveness and Healing
His death not only brought forgiveness for our sins, but His broken body brought healing for you and me. This promise is a New Testament version of the Old Testament prophecy of Isaiah.
Here is what the prophet Isaiah said in chapter 53, verse 5.
“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.”
Isaiah looked forward to the cross while Peter looked back. Isaiah said, “We are healed,” Peter declared, “You were healed.”
The Cross Brings Healing
The broken body of Jesus brought healing for you and me. It’s hard for us to understand, but when Jesus was beaten, scourged, and crucified, His suffering provided healing for those who would come to Him in faith.
Because of His suffering, you are healed of your suffering. Every painful experience, every rejection, and every hurt from your past can be healed by the broken body of Christ.
Have you allowed Jesus to heal the broken areas of your heart?
Have you allowed Jesus to restore and heal the wounded areas in your life?
Are you claiming healing for your physical body today?
Because of Jesus suffering on the cross, you can live rightly before God. You can walk clean and pure before Him. He has healed every hurt, wound, and weakness of your past.
Look at that promise again.
And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. – 1 Peter 2:24
Make these confessions.
- Jesus took on my sin as He hung on the cross.
- Because of Jesus’ suffering, I am healed.
- I am healed of my past pain, sin, and hurt.
- I can walk in fellowship with God because of the cross.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Jesus did more than bring forgiveness on the cross. His broken body provides healing for us today.

Yes, I believe that the cross can bring healing to me. I have struggled with health challenges this year: kidney stones, thyroid nodules, etc. But God has continued to heal and strengthen my body and brought me through! He has definitely been the source of my strength. I am so thankful! To God be the glory!!!
