Today’s Promise

I Am Led by the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:14

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Led by the Holy Spirit

There are only two kinds of people in this world. Those led by the Holy Spirit and those led by their own desires.

As a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit speaks to you and leads you in the way you should go. You don’t have to reach a certain level of spiritual maturity or have a special anointing to be led by the Spirit.

Jesus Promised the Holy Spirit

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to all who would follow Him. If you are born again through faith in Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit is in you and leading you today.

To be led by the Holy Spirit, you must be listening for His voice. The Old Testament prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 18 discovered that God doesn’t speak through the wind or the earthquake or the fire. God speaks through a still small voice. If you are not careful, you can miss the Spirit’s voice in the midst of the noise and distraction.

Tune to His Voice

To be led by the Spirit, you have to have your heart tuned to His voice. You have to be listening to His voice and prompting in every situation.

Obey

To be led by the Holy Spirit, you must obey what you hear. God doesn’t speak to us, so we can decide if we are going to obey. God reveals Himself to those who are open and obedient to His will.

Step By Step

The Holy Spirit leads you step-by-step. God rarely gives you the big picture or the final destination. Like a spiritual GPS, He only reveals the next step you should take.

Look at that promise again.

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. – Romans 8:14

Makes these confessions.

  • As a child of God, the Holy Spirit leads me.
  • The Holy Spirit speaks in a still small voice.
  • The Holy Spirit leads me one step at a time.
  • The more I listen for His voice, the more He leads me through the day.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

The more you keep your spiritual ears open, and the more you obey what you hear, the more you will find the Holy Spirit speaking to you. He will lead and direct you as never before.

Brother Billy I love this! As you have said, this is a gift available to all born again followers of Jesus Christ, and it is this idea that came to me by the Spirit when I inquired in prayer, “How will the body of Christ ever become unified? how will we all know enough? how can the Kingdom of God ever be truly integrated into this world? how much Bible do we all need to know and share?”
And the answer is, we must all get on board with walking and praying in the Spirit without ceasing! The Spirit knows, and the Spirit will guide, and give the information you need as you need it (as you have written here) and comfort you along the difficult paths. The Spirit will even show you sin that you have yet to deal with. He will show you things to come that you may walk in peace and not fear. Hallelujah! We do not need to wait until some carnally directed spiritual goal is achieved, however righteous. We have the Spirit right now! Walk as Jesus walked by His Spirit.
I also received a message through another teacher yesterday that using our heavenly prayer language is an excellent way to stay connected and hearing what the Spirit says, to enable our walking in the Spirit daily, and being sensitive to His voice.
Another really cool thing about this message, is that I spoke this very teaching on a family Zoom call last night with my fallen away adult sons. This was the first time in a long while that I was given boldness to broach such a contentious (yet convicting and drawing) subject. All thanks and praise to the Holy Spirit of God!
If anyone is interested, an uplifting modern example of this can be seen in the movie, Harriet.

God gave me an on time exhortation based on being led by the Holy Spirit. I am so amazed to see this now about 10 hours after that encounter. Thank you Lord for speaking to such a one as me. -M.H
