How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:1
God has a big family. It stretches across the globe from large suburban mega-churches to small home churches.
God has a diverse family. People from all walks of life, from different races, countries, and cultures, all make up the family of God.
There is something special about the family of God. I have traveled to many countries around the world. No matter where I have gone, every time I meet a fellow believer, it’s like I have met a long-lost cousin. The family of God goes beyond language, tradition, or background.
Faith in Christ
Faith in Christ is one thing every member of the family of God has in common. Only those who have given their life to Jesus and call Him Savior and Lord are part of the family of God.
It is God’s incredible love that has created such a family. I love how the word “lavished” is used in this verse. God poured out and kept pouring out His love on you and me. It is a gift that, once given, can never be taken back.
When you came to Christ by faith, He drew you close to Him and called you His child.
You Are Not Alone
Sometimes it can feel like you are the only one serving the Lord. You may feel like you are the only person who is really seeking after God. Just remember, you have spiritual family members throughout your city and around the world.
As children of God, He is making you like your brother Jesus. You are an heir to the kingdom of God. You are called to be a holy and righteous representative of God’s family.
The world never accepted Jesus, so you should never expect the world to understand or accept you.
One day, when Christ returns, we will have a giant family of God reunion. We will celebrate the Lord Jesus at the marriage feast of the Lamb and meet family members from around the world and throughout time. As members of the Family of God, we will spend eternity together in the Kingdom of God.
Look at that promise again.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. – 1 John 3:1
Make these confessions.
I am part of the Family of God.
By faith, I am a child of God and an heir to the Kingdom of God.
When I feel discouraged, I remember that I have family around the world.
When Jesus returns, I will meet all my family members and celebrate in the eternal Kingdom of God.
In Jesus name,
As a follower of Christ, you are part of a family that spans generations and covers every corner of the world. Your Father is the king of the universe. You are a member of the family of God.
I want to thank everyone who supports The Daily Promise ministry. You not only keep The Daily Promise going, but you also help me train hundreds of husbands and wives to pray for their spouses daily. I really appreciate your support, and you are truly partners with me in the ministry. Thank you for listening to the Father and supporting God’s work at The Daily Promise.
