Today’s Promise

I Am Part of God’s Family

1 John 3:1

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

A Big Family

God has a big family. It stretches across the globe from large suburban mega-churches to small home churches.

God has a diverse family. People from all walks of life, from different races, countries, and cultures, all make up the family of God.

There is something special about the family of God. I have traveled to many countries around the world. No matter where I have gone, every time I meet a fellow believer, it’s like I have met a long lost cousin. The family of God goes beyond language, tradition, or background.

Faith in Christ

Faith in Christ is one thing every member of the family of God has in common. Only those who have given their life to Jesus and call Him Savior and Lord are part of the family of God.

It is the incredible love of God that has created such a family. I love how the word “lavished” is used in this verse. God poured out and kept pouring out His love on you and me. It is a gift that, once given, can never be taken back.

As you responded in faith, He drew you close to Him and called you His child.

Not Alone

Sometimes it can feel like you are the only one serving the Lord. You may feel like you are the only person who is really seeking after God. Let me remind you today that you have spiritual family members throughout your city and around the world.

As children of God, God is making us like our brother Jesus. We are heirs to the kingdom of God. We are called to be holy and righteous representatives of God’s family.

The world never accepted Jesus, so we should never expect the world to accept us.

One day, when Christ returns, we will have a giant family of God reunion. We will celebrate the Lord Jesus at the marriage feast of the Lamb and meet family members from around the world and throughout time. As members of the Family of God, we will spend eternity together in the Kingdom of God.

Look at that promise again.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. – 1 John 3:1

Make these confessions.

  • I am part of the Family of God.
  • By faith, I am a child of God and an heir to the Kingdom of God.
  • When I feel discouraged, I remind myself that I have family members around the world.
  • When Jesus returns, I will meet all my other family members and celebrate the eternal Kingdom of God.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Our Lord has lavished great love on us. Let us lavish great praise on him by lifting our voices in song, worship and praise!
Since churches in many parts of the country, even the world, have been restricted, I think God must miss hearing his children every Sunday morning.
Singing songs of worship and praise unites us no matter where we are.
Singing to the one who created us, lifts our hearts from sorrow and fear.
And best of all, our voices of praise, please our Heavenly Father.
Let’s make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
