I Am Your Lamp and Light
For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness.
2 Samuel 22:29
Your Lamb and Light
God promises to be your lamp and light in a world of darkness. He will remove the darkness and show you the way.
This promise is part of David’s praise and thankfulness for God delivering him from King Saul. David declares that God is His lamp. A burning lamp was the symbol of lasting happiness and strength. The lamp provided consistent light. It was not a one-time fire but a constant source of illumination. When God is your lamp, His goodness brings happiness and strength into your life.
Here are three things the Lamp of God brings.
The Lamp of God brings Clarity.
Isn’t it amazing how just a little bit of light can bring so much clarity? As I have grown older, I need more light to read. The fine print on menus seems to have grown smaller over the years. I have to move the menu closer to the light to read the details. Could you use a little more clarity? You need the Lamp of God to help you see life more clearly.
The Lamp of God Removes Fear
Scary things happen in the dark. The lamp of God’s goodness scares away the darkness and removes fear. Have you ever been startled by a shadow in the middle of the night? When you turn on the light, what you thought was a stranger lurking in the shadows is just a shirt hung across a chair. The light of God’s love chases away your every fear.
The Lamp of God Keeps You from Harm
It’s dangerous to walk around at night without a light. You can trip and fall, step on a sharp object, or even fall into a hole. Without enough light, the way becomes uncertain. With God as your lamb, you can avoid the dangerous pitfalls that may trip up. God’s light protects you through the darkest of nights.
The second part of this promise could be said this way. “My God is the one who turns my darkness into light.”
What better description of the God you serve? He kicked off creation by saying, “let the be light,” and continues to bring light into your life.
He can turn your darkest days into days of hope and joy. When you are confused and unclear about your next step, God brings light into your decision-making.
When your heart is filled with the darkness of sin, He comes along and brings the light of His love into your life.
Look at this promise once again,
For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. – 2 Samuel 22:29
Make these confessions.
- God is my lamp.
- He is bringing clarity, protection, and guidance to me.
- As I walk in His light, my fear is removed.
- His light keeps me from stumbling.
- God turns my darkness into light.
In Jesus’ Name,
Your God is the lamp that turns your darkness into the light.
Calling all prayer warriors to join me.
Recently, God spoke to me about creating a prayer team for this ministry. I need a group of prayer warriors who will pray for me and this ministry.
As I bring a message of hope and faith through the promises of God’s Word, I know Satan opposes it on every side. I’m praying for God to bring a band of intercessors to this ministry.
As a Prayer Partner, I’ll send you a monthly prayer sheet asking you to pray about specific needs and guidance for me and this ministry. I’ll be sharing the struggles and victories we are going through with you so you can pray effectively for me and the ministry. As a Prayer Partner, I ask that you take a few moments every day to intercede for me and the ministry.
