Today’s Promise

I Have a Good Plan for Your Life

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

Does God Have a Good Plan?

Does God really have a plan for your life? Is that plan good? In today’s promise, we discover God answers these two questions.

When I was a teenager, I came across a little gospel track called the Four Spiritual Laws. That track has been used around the world to bring thousands of people to faith in Christ. It’s a short little booklet that begins with, “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.”

We all know that God loves us. The most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16, says explicitly that God loves us. He loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to save us. God not only loves you, but He also has a plan for your life. This promise says that plan is good.

The prophet Jeremiah spoke to the Children of God during an extremely difficult time in their history. He wrote to people who were living in another country in exile.

God’s Plan is Good

The prophet reminded them that God had not forgotten about them even though things were not as they wished they could be. He had a plan for their life, and that plan was good.

Just as a father wants the very best for his children, your Heavenly Father wants the best for you. God’s plan for your life doesn’t always include becoming a missionary, preacher, or giving your life for the Gospel. Sometimes His plan is as simple as walking in fellowship with Him, being an example of the love of Jesus to others, and helping those around you any way you can.

God’s Plan for You

Have you ever stopped to consider God’s plan for your life? When you think of God’s plan for you, do you see it as good?

Just because we can’t see how things are going to work out doesn’t mean God isn’t working His plan. You see your life day-by-day, but God sees the beginning and the end. He is working to bring about His good plan for your life.

It’s easy to get discouraged when things aren’t going the way you hoped. You may feel like God has forgotten you. Knowing that God has a plan for you and that plan is good gives you hope for the future and faith that He is working that plan for your benefit.

Let’s look at that promise again.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11

Make these confessions.

  • God has a plan for my life.
  • His plan is for my good.
  • He is giving me a future.
  • I have hope as I trust in His plan.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Never forget God is working in your life to bring about His good plan. He hasn’t forgotten you and is working in the background to bring about His good plan in your life.

I am in the habit of listening to this 3–4-minute episode every day for the past year, even on those days when I don’t feel like it. It is a good reminder of God’s goodness, grace and heart for us; and it gives me the perspective and encouragement I need for the day. Because I often think “wow, I wish my kids could hear this”, I have decided to share it with you every day. I encourage you to listen, and I pray it ministers to you the way it does to me.

    Love, Dad.
