Today’s Promise

I Have God’s Abounding Love

Psalm 103:8

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

Your God Overflows With Love Toward You.

The more you know about God, the more your faith grows. God’s love is intimately connected with who He is. The love of God is beyond comprehension. You will never plumb the depths of His love for you. The more you understand God’s love for you, the more your love for Him grows.

This promise shows us four characteristics of God’s love for us.

The Lord is Compassionate.

God genuinely cares about His children. He has a tender concern for those who follow Christ. Linked to His compassion is His mercy. Because of God’s compassion, He provides forgiveness and restoration to all who come to Him.

The Lord is Gracious.

God’s grace opens the door to a relationship with Him. He gives what we don’t deserve and goes beyond what might be expected. His grace flows over His children.

The Lord is Slow to Anger.

Some people see God as an angry Lord who pours His wrath out on the world. The Bible paints an entirely different picture of God. God is patient with our weaknesses and failures. It is His kindness that brings about repentance in our lives. (Romans 2:4) He knows what we are made of and gently works in our life to lift us up when we fall.

The Lord is Abounding in Love.

In some translations, they use the word “lovingkindness.” Lovingkindness is commitment love. Our God overflows with love for His children. God’s commitment love keeps on loving us, even when we are faithful in our love for Him.

Remember, God loves you with a commitment love that is faithful. He shows you mercy and compassion and is patient with your weakness and failure. His love is abounding toward you.

Look at that promise again.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. – Psalm 103:8

Make this confession.

  • My God is a compassionate God.
  • My God is a gracious God.
  • My God is slow to anger and has patience with my failures.
  • My God has a commitment love for me.
  • I am loved by God.

In Jesus name,
Amen
