Today’s Promise

I Will Not Fear

Isaiah 12:2

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.

God is Your Salvation

Since God is your salvation, there is never a need to live in fear. He gives you strength in the midst of a fearful world.

This promise begins with the word “behold.” We don’t use that word much these days. In the Old Testament, it was used to express the wonder of a new experience. If we were to use today’s language for this verse is would sound something like this. “Look! Can you believe this? God is my salvation. I trust Him, so I’m not afraid.”

The Fear Filled World

We live in a fearful world. Every day we are bombarded with images and news that fill us with fear and dread. From global warming to threats of terrorism, our screens are a constant source of bad news. Over these last few months, several news channels show a running total of deaths in the US and worldwide from the Corona Virus. Fear of contracting the virus, or of conspiracies related to it fill our screens. If you are not careful, fear can take root in your heart.

Living Above Fear

As a follower of Christ, you can live above fear. Your God is your salvation, so there is no place for fear. If God is on your side, what could you possibly fear?

Fear is the opposite of faith. You can’t walk in fear and walk in faith – the greater your fear, the less your faith. However, the opposite is true, as well — the greater your faith, the less your fear. The more you trust in God as your salvation, the less you will struggle with fear. If fear is taking hold of your heart today, take some time, and remember the blessings God has brought to your life. Rehearse the greatness of your God.

Jesus is Your Salvation

Notice the prophet doesn’t say God will bring salvation. He says God is my salvation. Salvation isn’t a religious practice, a program, or even a way of thinking. Salvation is the person of Jesus Christ. Salvation is not just heaven when you die, but a relationship with Christ day-by-day.

Jesus is your salvation. He is with you right now. He is your strength, and He is all you need. When you know Jesus is your salvation, you can sing for joy as the world around you shivers in fear.

Let’s review that promise once again.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. – Isaiah 12:2

Make this confession.

  • I will not fear because God is my salvation.
  • The more I trust in Him, the less I live in fear.
  • Jesus is my salvation.
  • All I need, I find in Him.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Remember, to overcome fear, focus on building your faith.
