Jesus Gives Victory Over Temptation

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

Victory Over Temptation

As a Christian, you will face temptation. The good news is that with every temptation, God has already promised victory.

When it comes to temptation, you are not on your own. God promises victory over every temptation that comes your way. When Christ died on the cross, He ended sin’s power over you and empowered you to overcome every temptation Satan throws your way.

This verse contains three promises when it comes to temptation.

First, everyone is tempted. It is easy to feel like you are the only one who faces temptation, but everyone is tempted. You never get to a place in your Christian life where you are no longer tempted. From the pastor to the new Christian, we all face temptation. You are no different than anyone else.

Second, God limits the temptations that come into your life. Your faithful Father will not allow you to face a temptation you can’t overcome through Christ. Your Heavenly Father has approved every temptation that comes into your life, and He knows you can overcome it.

Third, every temptation comes with a way of escape. God not only limits your temptation, but He also provides a way to overcome every temptation. Just as the flight attendant points out the exit doors on the airplane, God makes a way of escape for every temptation you face.

God has provided everything you need to overcome every temptation that comes into your life. As His child, you can walk in victory over temptation.

Let’s review this promise one more time:

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13

Make these confessions:

  • My temptations are no different than others.
  • God limits what temptations come into my life.
  • God always provides a way to escape from every temptation.
  • In Jesus Christ, I have victory over every temptation.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

You don’t have to fall to temptation. God has already given you victory. When you face a temptation, know that God has limited the temptation and look for the way of escape.

Drinking alcohol is a temptation that the Lord took away from me. It is not something I care about anymore.
