Jesus Will Finish What He Started in You

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6

God is Working

God is working in your life to make you more like Jesus. He will continue His work in your life until you see Him face to face.

Even though you may not realize it, God is always working in your life. It’s easy to think the Christian life is all about what you need to do. You need to spend more time in Bible study. You need to pray more. You need to share your faith. You need to be more sensitive to the needs of others, and the list goes on and on and on. However, the Christian life is really about God working in you.

If you were to look back on your walk with God, I’m sure you would see God working in your life, time and time again. There were times when you drifted away from Him, and He used a situation or a person to bring you back to Himself. There was a financial need He met at the very last minute. Even during your most challenging times, God was working in your life.

Jesus Won’t Give up

If God has done all this for you, do you really think He will give up on you now?

Some translations begin this verse with, “Since I am confident….” Paul was absolutely confident that God would complete His work in the lives of the Christians in Philippi.

I am absolutely confident that God will finish His work in you as well.

Right now, God is doing a good work in your life. You may not understand it or see it, but every day God is working to make you more like Jesus. Even when you resist Him, He continues to work behind the scenes to bring you back into full fellowship with Him.

The word “perform” means to carry through. God will keep working until you are complete in Him. He is not about to give up on you. He will keep working in you until you are mature in Christ.

Look at that promise again.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6

Make these confessions:

  • What Jesus began in my life, He will complete.
  • Every day He is working to make me more like Himself.
  • He has brought me this far and is not going to quit on me now.
  • I am confident that He will complete His work in me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

God is working in you, day by day, to make you more like Jesus. He will not quit until you are mature in Christ and you see Him face to face.

    Good morning,
Thank you for the encouraging message. This is precisely what I need to hear today at this moment in time. I have been struggling with discerning what God has for me and feel low self-confidence. I will wait on the Lord to seek his divine direction and hear the Lord’s will by faith.
What Jesus began in my life, He will complete.
He has brought me this far and is not going to quit on me now.
I am confident that He will complete His work in me. Amen.
    I exalt your holy name.
Thank You, Jesus, my Lord and Savior,
    Thank You, Holy Spirit.

This verse goes along with the promise of 1Corinthians 1:8, which says:

“He will keep you strong till the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.“

I have repeated this promise to myself many times, especially when I feel weak. God will keep me strong!

Dear Billy Taylor! I have been reading Dr. Jeremíah’s “Turning point“ daily devotionals, and they are very good; however I was recently encouraged by a classmate to check out your “Daily Promise,” Not only have I found comfort and inspiration in these “promises” this past week, but I’ve also been able to share with others in need. Thank you so much for your scriptural insight and wisdom!!!
