Today’s Promise

The Promise of Christmas

Isaiah 9:6

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Today, through Christmas Day, we will be focusing on the promises of Christmas and what they mean for us.

God Had a Plan

From the moment Adam and Eve brought sin into the world, God had a plan. Their rebellion and disobedience were no surprise to the creator God. He promised, right in the garden, that one would come who would crush the head of Satan and restore what sin had destroyed.

The prophet Isaiah echoed what God said in the garden with new details of who this person would be. God would send a child that would bring the peace God had promised. For hundreds of years, the people of God waited and longed for the appearance of this child. Though they could not see it, God was working to bring about His plan of salvation to the world.

God is not surprised by the events in your life. He is not surprised by your sin or disobedience. He is not surprised when you stray from your walk with Him, and He is not surprised when you face problems and difficulties.

Jesus Fulfills the Plan

The birth of Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s plan that began long before Adam and Eve ever needed a Savior. His answer to their problem began long before they sinned.

The God who promised redemption through a baby born in a manger has promised forgiveness and restoration to you. You may not see it, but God is working in the background to bring about His plan in your life.

God has a perfect plan for you. He is working behind the scenes to bring that plan to fulfillment. He is restoring in you, all that sin has destroyed.

Look at the promise again.

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Make these confessions.

  • The birth of Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s perfect plan.
  • Jesus brought salvation and redemption to my life.
  • God is never surprised by my actions or the problems I face.
  • He is working behind the scenes to bring about His plan in my life.

In Jesus name,
Amen

The promise of Christmas is that God had a plan of restoration from the very beginning of time. The baby in a manger would fulfill the promise of freedom and restoration from the devastating power of sin. God’s promise to you is that the same Jesus born in the manger will bring freedom and restoration to your life today.

If you have claimed the promise of Christmas, put an “Amen” in the comments below.
