Today’s Promise
Victory Comes Little by Little
Exodus 23:29-30
“I will not drive them out before you in a single year, that the land may not become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land.”
God Gives Victory
When God told the Children of Israel about the land that He would give them, He promised to drive out their enemies. They would be victorious against all their enemies because God would send an angel who would lead the way and fight their battles for them. All they needed to do was be obedient.
God said He would give them victory over their enemies and allow them to possess the land little by little. If He gave them more than they could possess, then the land would become desolate and wild animals would take over. If He gave them the land all at once, they couldn’t handle it.
I Want it Now
If you are anything like me, I want all God has for me today. I don’t want to wait; I want it now. I want my spiritual battles won, my weaknesses to become my strengths, and instant spiritual maturity. I want God to deliver on my prayers like Amazon delivers packages. I don’t want to wait for them.
However, life and God rarely works that way. God knows that real transformation takes time. God only gives us what we can possess. Your walk with God is rarely a straight line upward. Usually, God shows you a new truth, then works to apply that truth into your life. Sometimes it’s two steps forward and one step back.
God Works Little by Little
God works little by little in your life. He leads you one step at a time. When you disobey, He brings you back to Himself. He slowly works to make you just like Jesus. If He were to give you too much, too quickly, you might be overcome with pride or arrogance. You might begin to think your victories were of your own making and act independently of God.
By leading you step-by-step, God is fighting and going before you to give you victory. He is transforming your life and renewing your mind. He is working in you to make you like Jesus. Little by little, He is working daily to give you everything He has for you.
Look at that promise again.
“I will not drive them out before you in a single year, that the land may not become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land.” – Exodus 23:29-30
Confess these promises with me.
- God is going before me today.
- God is fighting my battles for me.
- God is leading me step-by-step.
- God is working in my life little by little.
