You are an Overcomer
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.
1 John 5:4
You Are an Overcomer
In the name of Jesus, you are an overcomer. You can walk in victory today through the power of Christ in you.
As a Christian, you walk in victory, overcoming the world. You overcome temptation, sin, and every attack that comes against you.
Your victory doesn’t come from personal discipline, hard work, or effort. Your victory comes through faith in Christ Jesus.
Your Faith
The faith that brought your salvation is the same faith that brings victory in your daily living.
Every day, you face the powerful enemy of this world. I’m not talking about the physical world. There is nothing wrong with mountains, rivers, or beautiful sunsets. I’m talking about the world system or culture. You live in a big, bad world. The world is running away from God as fast as possible. The effects of sin and selfishness have wrecked the fallen world around you. If you aren’t careful, the world will suck you into its ways and seduce you into drifting along with its rebellion toward God.
Victory Through Faith in Christ
How do you overcome this powerful enemy? Through your faith in Christ. You don’t have to wait until heaven to live the overcoming Christian life. When Jesus was on the cross, He sealed your victory. God is actively fighting for you today.
Just as God fought for the Children of Israel as they entered the promised land, God fights for you. Your victory was won on the cross. You just need to release that victory in your life today.
As a born-again Christian, you have overcome the world. The Christian life is more than following a set of beliefs; it’s living as a new creation in Christ. You are not the old person you once were; you are new in Christ.
An overcomer is not a special class of Christians; it is the call of God for every believer. Through your faith, you have and will overcome the world.
Look at that promise again.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. – 1 John 5:4
Make these confessions.
- Through faith, I overcome the world.
- I will not allow the world to seduce me into its ways.
- Jesus sealed my victory on the cross.
- I don’t have to wait for heaven to experience the victorious Christian life.
