Today’s Promise
March 24, 2022
You are no Longer a Slave to Sin
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.
Romans 6:6-7
Sin’s Chains are Broken
You are no longer a slave to sin. The power of Christ has set you free from your old sinful nature. You have victory over every temptation that comes your way.
When Jesus died on the cross, He not only paid the penalty for your sin but broke the power sin has over you. You are free from the chains of sin because Christ has set you free.
Understanding this promise is one of the most liberating and empowering truths of the New Testament.
The Old Self is Dead
This promise says that your old self is dead. Your old self or nature was utterly selfish and bent toward sin. It wants complete control of your life.
Your old self would choose sin over righteousness every time. It had you chained to your lusts and in bondage. You were a slave to every temptation Satan brought your way.
When Christ died on the cross, your old self was crucified with Him. Because your old self died, you are now set free from its power. Now you live in the power of your new life in Christ.
You Have Victory
Satan has no control over you. His kingdom is defeated. When Satan brings temptation your way, you have victory over it. You have been set free! Sin’s power over you was broken by the power of the cross.
You will still be tempted, but because of Christ’s work in you, you have victor over every temptation.
Let’s look at that promise again,
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. – Roman 6:6-7
Make these confessions.
- In Jesus Christ, I am dead to sin.
- Sin no longer has power over me.
- I am free from the penalty and power of sin.
- My old self is dead, and my new self walks in obedience to Christ.
- Jesus has set me free from sin.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Remember, your old self is dead, and you are alive in Christ. You are no longer a slave to sin. Live in the freedom Christ has provided.
