You Are Part of God’s Family

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:1

God Has a Big Family

As a Child of God, you have a big family. Your family stretches around the world and across time. God has adopted you as His child and transferred you into His kingdom.

God has a big family. It stretches across the globe from large mega-churches to small home churches.

God has a diverse family. People from all walks of life, from different races, countries, and cultures, all make up the family of God.

There’s Something Special About God’s Family

There is something special about the family of God. I have traveled to many countries around the world. No matter where I have gone, every time I meet a fellow believer, it’s like meeting a long-lost cousin. The family of God goes beyond language, tradition, or background.

Faith in Christ is one thing every member of the family of God has in common. Only those who have given their life to Jesus and call Him Savior and Lord are part of the family of God.

It was God’s incredible love that created such a family. I love how the word “lavished” is used in this verse. God poured out and kept pouring out His love on you and me. It is a gift that, once given, can never be taken back.

A Family by Faith

When you came to Christ by faith, He drew you close to Him and called you His child.

Sometimes it can feel like you are the only one serving or seeking after God. When you feel lonely and discouraged, remember you have brothers and sisters in Christ scattered throughout your city and around the world. You are never alone. You have a spiritual family.

As a child of God, He is working in your life. He is making you like your brother Jesus. You are an heir to the kingdom of God. Jesus calls you to be a holy and righteous representative of God’s family.

One day, when Christ returns, we will have a giant family of God reunion. We will celebrate the Lord Jesus at the marriage feast of the Lamb and meet family members from around the world and throughout time. As members of God’s family, we will spend eternity together in the Kingdom of God.

Look at that promise again.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. – 1 John 3:1

Make these confessions.

  • I am part of the Family of God.
  • By faith, I am a child of God and an heir to His kingdom.
  • When I feel discouraged, I remember having a spiritual family around the world.
  • When Jesus returns, I will meet my spiritual family and celebrate in the eternal Kingdom of God.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

As a follower of Christ, you are part of a family that spans generations and covers every corner of the world. Your Father is the king of the universe. You are a member of the family of God.

Yes, I do. When I see myself as part of a family, it implies, I share the joys and sorrows of my fellow family members. I pray with / for them irrespective of the circumstances. I encourage them and get encouraged. I may teach them but also learn from them. It’s great to be a part of God’s family ! Glory be to God.
