Today’s Promise

When I Am Weak, I Am Strong

2 Corinthians 12:10

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

As is often the case, kingdom principles run contrary to our thinking.

Who would ever say, “I am content with weakness.” We brag about our strengths. Who would say, “In my weakness, I am strong.” We celebrate the strong and powerful.

Paul understood that the laws of the kingdom of God are different than the laws of this world. He knew that God’s power is often strongest in those who are weak.

God loves using weak and flawed people. Hudson Taylor was born almost 100 years ago and was one of God’s greatest missionaries. Even though every missionary organization turned him down, Hudson still followed God’s call to travel to China and preach the gospel. He spent 51 years in China. There he established churches, schools, and encouraged over 800 other missionaries to come to China.

Here is what he said about weakness.

“All God’s giants were weak mean who did great things for God because the reckoned God to be with them.”

We expect great, important people to do big things. No one is surprised when the good looking, articulate, well-educated person achieves success. When God uses weak people to great things, there is no question who gets the glory. Moses, David, Peter, and Paul were all weak men who God used greatly.

No matter what your situation, failures, or weaknesses, God can still use you to do great things for the Kingdom of God. Your weakness will not keep God from using you.

You can use your weakness as an excuse or allow God to do great things through you.

When you understand that God can use your weakness for His glory, you can praise Him for your frailty.

Look at that promise again.

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 12:10

Make This confession.

God uses weak people to do great things.
When I am weak, God is strong through me.
God can use my weakness for His glory.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
